Drager Polytron IR is an explosion proof infrared gas detector for continuous monitoring of combustible gases and vapours. With its stainless steel body and drift free optics this transmitter is built for the harshest offshore environments. Two models working with different wavelengths now cover a broader range of detectable substances.
Technical innovation
The new model type 340 extends the area of applications for the Dräger Polytron IR product line. The new wavelength of the Dräger Polytron IR type 340 offers detection of alkanes at an even higher sensitivity. The possible monitoring of cyclohexane presents one of various new options for gas detection resulting from this innovation.
With both transmitter models Drager Polytron IR type 340 and IR type 334, Drager defines the status quo of measurement technology for continuous monitoring of ambient air regarding combustible gases and vapours. Drager Polytron IR works based on the physical principle of infrared absorption. The
innovative double compensated and non- focussing optics effectively compensates all temperature and ageing effects. With its many field proved components it sets the standard for all relevant measurement requirements. It is approved by certification that Dräger Polytron IR can be used for
SIL 2 (safety integrity level) safety functions.

| Transmitter Family |
The Polytron infrared transmitter family has grown significantly over time. The reason for the variety of instruments lies in the fact that one transmitter cannot monitor all gases with the same sensitivity and is not suitable for all applications. The following overview shows the different types of transmitters, gives some technical background and should help to chose the right transmitter for an application.

| Polytron ND Ex |
 |
The Polytron ND Ex is an explosion proof gas detector for continus monitoring of combustible gases and vapors in ambient air. The transmitter uses industry standard three-wire analog technology, and converts the signal from a catalytic combustion. Erager Sensor to a 4 to 20 mA signal that is proportional to the actual gas concentration. The unit is designed for one-man calibration and easy to operate.
Features and Benefits :
- Poison resistant catalytic bead
- Fast, accurate response
- Drager sensor technology
- LCD Dispaly (optional)
- 4 to 20 mA analog signal output
- Ul, CSA, CENELEC approved,
CE marking.

| Polytron FX |
 |
The Polytron FX is an economical, microprocessor-based gas detector for continuous monitoring of combustible gases and vapors in ambient air. Non-intrusive calibration and mainte- nance is performed using a magnetic wand to access the software through the enclosure window – no need to open the enclosure (and obtain special area permits) to perform routine calibra-tions. With only seven software menu choices to work with, the Polytron FX is easy to use.
The heart of the Polytron FX is the new DrägerSensor PR. The interior of the sensor has been redesigned to almost double the sensitivity. Higher sensitivity also means shorter response time, higher accuracy and improved stability of the sensor signal. The advanced poison resistant DrägerSensor PR has a significantly increased sensor life.
Features and Benefits:
• Economical
• Non-intrusive calibration
• DrägerSensor technology
• Simple software menu |
